I’m Helen and this is my little corner of the digital world. I live in Wales with a fiercely independent toddler, husband and a rescue cat with anxiety. I work 30 hours a week so have a lot to juggle. I’ve worked in public relations and communications, recruitment consultancy, employment coaching and even written a few books… but that’s a story for another day.
I found the thought of returning to work after having my son a challenge. On the one hand I was looking forward to having a hot cup of tea. On the other, I faced going back to a job that wasn’t fulfilling, juggling childcare and doing it all with a husband that frequently traveled with work. I knew that if I had to go back to work for someone else, I had to make it count. That change of mindset combined with years of helping people realise their career potential enabled to me return to a new job, and flexible working.
It also reminded me to feed my inner values and creativity. That resulted in the blog. As a new mum, I didn’t have the capacity or focus to write full length fiction and work, but I knew I could build an online space where I could share my parenting journey and hang out with like minded mums. It’s a lot to fit in, but I just about manage.
You can feel out of the loop as a mum when you go back to work. You can feel that your choices are restricted or limited. You might even feel isolated. With Welsh Mum Working, you don’t need to. Join me on my parenting journey as a working mum juggling it all. Let me walk with you on yours and share what I’ve learned along the way.
Check out my work with me page if you’d like to collaborate on a project, marketing campaign or brand work.
