Carers Week began on the 11 June and will be running until 17 June. Carers week is all about shining a spotlight on the important role of carers, the valuable contribution they make, but also the importance of taking care of them too.
It’s an issue which is very close to my heart. Carers can often become isolated and stressed, putting the needs of others before their own. Although they may be solely or partially responsible for the physical, emotional and financial care of others, they might also have families, jobs, education or other commitments. It’s possible that event you could at some point could become a carer, be that due to injury, ill health, or age. It’s estimated that 1 in 8 people in any given community are caring for someone at any given time.
If you are carer or know someone who is, please check out the list of events near you going on this week. There’s plenty across the country, from coffee get-togethers to information sessions, and much much more.
