Kids parties made easy with ‘Party Bags and Supplies’

What could be more stressful than deciding to have a birthday party for your three-year-old, the day before you go on holiday? It wasn’t a decision I took lightly. We had decided not to throw one this year, but take him to a Butlins Just for Tots weekend instead. All was running to plan until we went to a bunch of third parties and I was immediately struck by two things: (1) they were so much fun, and (2) guilt.

So, with a tiny budget and a limited guest list, we decided to throw a third party after all. I couldn’t face the stress of having to organise multiple things though – party supplies, food, venue, entertainment – not least because I don’t have time. So, taking the easy route, I booked a soft play venue which provided food, and looked out for premade party bags and supplies. They’re an actual thing you know!

The parenting stars aligned though and I was given the opportunity to review party supplies and pre- stuffed party bags from Party Bags and Supplies. This online shop stocks everything from party bag fillers, pre- made bags, tableware, balloons and more.

Their range is impressive. You can pick from generic themes like princesses, pirates or just “birthday”, to much loved characters like Bing and Thomas the Tank Engine. All ages are catered for.

I opted to review a Peppa Pig themed package that included that included tableware for 8, prefilled party bags, cups, napkins and a tablecloth. I also opted to buy an additional set of tableware, balloons and party bags as there were going to be 12 attending the party.

The ordering process online was very easy, with the option to pay by card or Paypal. The items arrived with in a week, and were well packaged.  Everything was as expected, with firm plates, decent cups and a tablecloth large enough for a table.

I was pleased with the prefilled party bags which contained stickers, a marshmallow sweet, and two toys. The bags are plastic but at least than £2 a bag I don’t think you should sniff at this. They’re the standard ones you would buy in a supermarket and more than serviceable for popping in some extra treats like a slice of cake.

There are plenty of bag fillers and other types of bags, including card boxes, online. It was definitely easier and much cheaper than his first birthday party, when I bought all the fillers myself and made the bags. I spent a small fortune.

So we are all set for our party now. All I need to do is get a cake and by picking a Peppa Pig theme we can grab an off the shelf one from the supermarket. Don’t judge me. I know there’s lots of parents who thrive on making decorations, and baking, but I’m not one of them. Plus, we go to see Mr Tumble the next day so I don’t want to be spending ages clearing out a party room.

Have you tried prefilled party bags, or do you have any other tips for throwing a child’s party on a budget?
