Ronald McDonald House Charities UK  (RMHCUK) is an independent charity that provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation and support for families with children in hospital.   Ronald McDonald House Cardiff opened in July 2017 and is celebrating their anniversary today, throwing their doors open for a day of family fun. Since opening Ronald McDonald House Cardiff has supported more than 500 families. The House can accommodate up to 30 families each night, while their child is at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital. I was delighted to be asked go along to the Cardiff Family Fun Day to celebrate its one-year anniversary,…

Uniform and nursery labels made easy with My Nametags

I hate labelling our son’s clothes with nametags for nursery. I’ve tried loads of different types in the past, from iron on to sew on and I’ve hated all of them. It’s mostly because I’m lazy when it comes to things like that, or perhaps more accurately I’ve got better things to do with my time than label every individual article of clothing. I’ve resorted to writing his name on the inside of hat and coats with a laundry marker before now. Of course, that makes it tricky when you want to hand them on to another child, donate them…

Interview Feedback: why you should ask for it and why employers should give it

Asking for feedback is hard and I admire anyone who asks for it following an interview. Interviews are nerve wrecking. Who want’s to prolong the pain? I’ve worked with and for many companies over the years that are incredibly bad at giving post interview feedback. For many it’s a case of resource – taking some time out to give some advice to an unsuccessful candidate just isn’t a priority. Often rejection letters come straight from centralised or outsourced HR . This makes the process of seeking out feedback really hard for job applicants. I was recently approached by an unsuccessful…

Are you a fierce female? A fashion brand has launched just for you

Fiercely Female is a new fashion brand for strong mothers and fierce women and it launched yesterday. I am super excited because it’s the brain child of  “Mamma B”  from The Baby and the Boardroom.  Lou, as she is known to friends, was one of the first mummy bloggers I met on this phase of my blogging journey and I admire her so much. She’s not just an amazing mum to a near teen, but also a toddler. On top of that she runs a business and has now launched this latest enterprise. She’s authentic, supportive, funny and has the…

Eco Snack Wrap : an alternative to clingfilm and plastic

I’m always looking for ways to be plastic free at home, but food storage is still an area I struggle with. I love a zip lock bag as they make it so easy to store leftovers in the freezer and reduce foodwaste, and I like a good plastic container (not the disposable kind) for keeping salad leaves fresh and for wetter packed lunches like chilli that needs to be warmed up. But what about sandwiches and snacks? Sadly, it’s easy to just go for individually wrapped items like cakes or wrap up a sandwich in clingfilm. It’s much better for…
