A family day out at the Eden Project

The Eden Project in Cornwall is one of the UK’s top environmental visitor attractions and it’s no surprise why. It has something for everyone there, even if it is all based around eco-systems and promoting a better way of interacting with our environment, not to mention building a more sustainable future. Hubs and I visited the Eden Project on our honeymoon and I fell in love with the place. It’s not surprising then that we decided to take Small Boy as part of our first family holiday to Cornwall. I had hoped that it would be as fabulous as I remember and it was. In fact it was better as it was a glorious day so we could really enjoy…

3 things to do in Newquay with a toddler

We had a fabulous family holiday with a toddler in Newquay. There is so much to see and do there, both on a rainy day or when the sun is shining. There’s activities for all ages, but I’ve chosen my top three on the basis that these were particularly great for a preschooler and are fantastic value for money. Newquay Zoo We could have spent hours in Newquay Zoo, which is just on the outskirts of the town. It has a large car park and close to a bus stop for those reliant on public transport. It’s not the largest zoo I’ve been to over the years, but has over 1000 breads of animals, from pigs to penguins, plus an…

Parkdean Newquay Holiday Park: A review of our family holiday

We have returned from a triumphant family holiday in a caravan at Parkdean Newquay. It’s a success as it took some persuading to get Hubs to consider a holiday in a caravan. I have fond memories of staying in them as a child on family holidays to Devon. My husband never has. When you live in Northern Ireland, holidays usually involve a flight. If you’re going to get on a plane you may as well carry on going and head to Spain or Italy or similar.   Now we have Small Boy I was keen to give it a try. For one thing, like many families expensive holidays are a luxury. We want something cheap, cheerful and entertainment. We want…

Planning our family holiday to Cornwall

It’s been a little quiet here from me as among other things I’ve been planning our family holiday to Cornwall. This is our second family holiday since having Small Boy, the first being Center Parcs last year which he was a little too young to enjoy. He’s now two and I’m looking forward to showing him Cornwall and having some fun outdoors. As we’re not moving house due to stress and money and a lack of houses we like, we’ve decided to spend this year having fun instead. So while we are spending a modest amount on repairs and redecorating, we have put some aside for a few UK breaks. Our break to Cornwall is the first one and I…

Sun holidays and sea views – 2018 Travel Plans

I’m feeling very proud of myself today as I’ve managed to persuade the other half to go on a Sun newspaper holiday. This is a huge deal as whereas I have fond childhood memories of holidays in a caravan park in Torquay as a child, Hubs does not. He had one awful experience and vowed he’d never go again. I’m aware that my memories could have a touch of the rose tinted glasses about them. These holidays were all when I was under the age of eight, a time when whacking on some armbands and splashing about in a chilly pool, or eating chips from a newspaper cone was my idea of a good time. I did go once as…
