Eco Snack Wrap : an alternative to clingfilm and plastic

I’m always looking for ways to be plastic free at home, but food storage is still an area I struggle with. I love a zip lock bag as they make it so easy to store leftovers in the freezer and reduce foodwaste, and I like a good plastic container (not the disposable kind) for keeping salad leaves fresh and for wetter packed lunches like chilli that needs to be warmed up. But what about sandwiches and snacks? Sadly, it’s easy to just go for individually wrapped items like cakes or wrap up a sandwich in clingfilm. It’s much better for the environment and your wallet to buy in bulk and split up items, storing them for future use, or to…

A review of the Fisher Price Custom Comfort Potty Chair

Part of potty training your toddler is getting the right potty. But which one should you choose? We’ve bought several as it’s useful when potty training to have a few dotted around the house. As we have three floors to our house we need one on every floor. That’s a lot of potties. So to supplement our regular potty style, I wanted to get one that was chair style. I decided to buy the Fisher Price Custom Comfort Potty Chair.   We bought ours from Amazon, where it’s currently retailing at £25.99, with next day delivery from Amazon Prime. It came out of the box in one piece which was a relief. You simply have to snap the back rest…

The best backpacks for mums

Backpacks are back in fashion. There’s a bunch out there which is great news for mums. I have been in search for the perfect handbag for more than twenty years and I’m sure it doesn’t exist. A decent backpack or dayback comes close to it though. Not only are backpacks better for posture they have a lot of pockets. You can fit a lot in them. Many are also waterproof so you can guarantee things stay dry – from nappies to your phone. The added benefit of backpacks for parents is that you have two hands free. I usually have a shopping basket in one hand and a toddler’s in the other. So what are the best packpacks for mums?…

My favourite new shoes courtesy of XYLondon

I’m doing my best at the moment to be appreciative of things. Life is so crazy that sometimes you don’t stop and notice the satisfaction things give you. I recently decluttered in line with the Kon Marie method. It’s basically the principal of getting rid of things that have no practical use, are used regularly and don’t spark joy. It really is an eye opener and if you haven’t read any of Marie Kondo’s books on this I would recommend them. So as a way to keep me on track I wanted to stop and remind myself of some things that are sparking joy in my life right now. I stress things rather than people or experiences as I…

Our Review of the Chicco Snack Booster Seat

Are you looking for an alternative to a high chair, perhaps because your toddler is ready to sit at the table or you want something you can take out to restaurants or family? I decided to stash the big high chair and get  Chicco Snack Booster Seat  – a space saving alternative that you strap to your dining chair. We already have a Polar Gear travel booster, which has a foam seat, which we love, but with everyday use it was beginning to get a bit squishy. The Chicco Snack Booster promises a lot and has rave reviews on numerous sites. But what did I think? First of all, it’s well packaged without being swamped in cardboard or wrapping. Everything was…

The Wicked Uncle Challenge – A Review of Toddler Toys

So I recently joined in with the Wicked Uncle Challenge for bloggers to review some of their great toys in time for Christmas. I happily signed up as I’m always looking for great gifts for toddlers and I’ve bought products from them in the past.   I love that you can navigate the Wicked Uncle website by age.  It’s helpful as I have kids from age 1 to 8 to buy for. They have toys I can’t find on the high street and the quality is always amazing. I had a budget of £40 to spend and with this I was able to buy a Dinosaur Wooden Cube Puzzle and the  ABC Wooden Play Bus Delivery was within 2 days which is…

5 Household Gadgets Every Family Need

There’s a few more than 5 items every household needs, but I thought I’d share some of the ones I really class as essential. I’m all about making life easier for myself. Sometimes that means planning in advance (See number 5), but sometimes it’s just about have equipment or items in my home which takes away some of the burden. 1. The Karcher Window Cleaner Karcher are one of my favourite brands and for good reason, but even I was resistant about buying this. How lazy! NO!!! It’s amazing. This is one of the few small household appliances that I can’t imagine being without. It really does clean your windows without leaving a single streak. It’s cheaper than getting a…
